Americans for IVF Cover Memorandum re Commissioned Economic Analyses on Proposed HOPE with Fertility Services Act 

Infertility is the body’s reproductive system’s failure to function as is naturally intended and it is highly prevalent. The most recent CDC survey of on this subject, released in 2021, found that 13.4% (9.7 million) U.S. women 15-49 years of age (of all marital statuses) have impaired fecundity. 

A staggering 1 in 4 (26%) married women in this age group with no prior births have difficulty getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term. Across America, 12.2% of women have received infertility services. Additionally, recent studies have found that among men, who account for about half of infertile couples’ challenges, male factor infertility has substantially increased 76.9% across the globe since 1990.
