As the 90-day deadline approaches for President Trump’s executive order regarding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and lowering its cost to patients, a new poll shows that IVF is incredibly popular across the partisan and social spectrum and voters overwhelmingly support requiring health insurance to cover the procedure. The data emphasizes a clear public mandate for accessible fertility treatments.
The poll, conducted in late April for Americans for IVF (AIVF) by leading Republican polling firm Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, found that 85% of registered voters favor IVF. This includes 78% of Republicans, 82% of Catholics, 81% of Evangelical Christians, and 80% of voters who identify as pro-life, reflecting remarkable consistent support across demographics. The poll surveyed 1,200 registered voters between April 11-14, 2025.
Furthermore, by a more than 4-to-1 margin (74% – 17%), American voters support a law mandating health insurance plans in all 50 states to cover infertility diagnosis, testing, and treatment, including IVF. Republicans are in favor by a more than 2-to-1 margin, as are Catholics, Evangelicals, and those identifying as Pro-Life. This support is strong across party lines and religious affiliations, with 51% strongly in favor.
“These findings confirm that the American people want everyone who needs IVF to have access to it, so they can create the families they desperately want,” said Rabbi Moshe Margaretten, founder and president of AIVF, a leading conservative advocacy group for fertility treatment coverage. “This is proof of how supportive most Americans have become of fertility treatment, even those who identify as religious or conservative.”
The poll results come as President Trump’s February 18 executive order, which directs the submission of policy recommendations on protecting IVF access and reducing costs, nears its 90-day deadline. AIVF has been actively engaging with White House officials to advocate for robust insurance coverage requirements.
This latest poll echoes the findings of a Pew Research Center survey in April 2024, which found that 70% of adults “said IVF is a good thing.” Like the recent poll, the Pew survey found that the majority of Evangelical Christian, Catholic and anti-abortion adults support IVF. This consistent data highlights the growing consensus on the importance of accessible IVF treatments, with about 100,000 children born in the U.S. each year through IVF.
Infertility affects an estimated one in eight U.S. couples, with IVF costs reaching up to $25,000 per cycle. Unfortunately for most Americans, health insurance does not cover it. AIVF commissioned a study proving that requiring insurance coverage for IVF would only minimally increase premiums — just $0.58–$0.79 per member per month.
“These poll findings should erase any doubt for the president and Congress that safeguarding IVF and expanding access to it will be incredibly popular across the country,” added Rabbi Margaretten. “I urge other pro-family, pro-IVF supporters to contact the White House and express their support for expanded insurance coverage and affordability for IVF.”
